Who We Are

At Flatonia Baptist Church, our goal is to experience God’s love each and every day. We believe wholeheartedly that true life (hope, joy, and purpose) is found in a relationship with God through Christ. The more we engage in this relationship with God, the greater our joy will be!

Therefore, each of our ministries are geared around the idea of experiencing more and more of God’s love. The purpose of all of our times of Bible study – whether it’s Sunday School, Wednesday night gatherings, or special Bible studies – is for us to interact with God’s Word and His people. In doing this, we are learning more about God and His plan for our lives.

In addition, we have many ministries here at Flatonia Baptist Church that help us to show love to others, both in our church and in the community. As Jesus taught us, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35) In our modern world, there are an infinite number of ways to share God’s love with others. The information that you have in this packet will give you insight into the various ministry opportunities offered through our church.

Another main emphasis of our church is sharing the good news about Christ with others. We believe that each of us get to be a part of God’s plan for sharing His love with this world. Therefore, we have several ways that we will highlight mission activities and opportunities. Our responsibility is to pray for our missionaries, support their work financially, and even go and be a part of God’s work in our neighborhoods and around the world!

There are two main words that come to mind as we think about the opportunities before us: Connection and Participation. Our goal here at Flatonia Baptist Church is to help you have a close connection with God and His people. To that end, we encourage you to participate in as many of these Bible studies, fellowship opportunities, and ministries as possible.

Flatonia Baptist Church is a caring family of believers committed to sharing the love of God with our community and our world. Our church family includes people from multiple generations, faith backgrounds, and walks of life, and together we seek to encourage and strengthen one another as we grow into the people God created us to be.

We believe that being part of a strong church family is an integral part of the Christian life, and we seek to provide lots of opportunities for our members to form relationships with one another through fellowship opportunities, small groups, and other ministries. We encourage you to get involved so that you can be part of the great things that God is doing through our church family!

At Flatonia Baptist Church, we believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the church and that He has empowered men and women to serve as leaders within our local congregation as we seek to be the people God has created for us to be. Our church is blessed with a dedicated group of people who seek to guide us as we live our God’s will for our church.

FBC is a congregational church, which means that the congregation comes together to vote on important business and administrative matters. We have business meetings once each quarter, during which we work together to make decisions about our business affairs that honor God and advance His kingdom through our church.

Our Church Council acts on our church’s behalf in between our quarterly business meetings and provides leadership and oversight on financial, personnel, and other matters. Our Church Council meets once each month.

Our Deacons are a group of Godly men who serve as key spiritual leaders within our congregation and who provide leadership in many important areas. The Deacons are also members of our Church Council, meaning that they are a key part of our church’s administrative structure.
